Startbahn has partnered with ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 to launch an NFT-based scavenger hunt with FUN FAN NFT from November 3rd to November 27th in Atami, Japan. FUN FAN NFT is a user-friendly web app, which does not require crypto wallets, that enables visitors to scan QR codes and collect NFTs straight to their phones as they visit ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 exhibitions. The NFTs, issued on Startrail, feature a limited number of artworks by artists Yuma Kishi and Shu Yonezawa, and can be collected at 20 locations throughout Atami. Additionally Taihei Shii, CEO of Startbahn, served as a judge for ATAMI ART GRANT 2022.

From November 3rd to November 27th, art festival ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 by PROJECT ATAMI Executive Committee will be held at the ACAO area, station area and Ginza-machi area of Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture. PROJECT ATAMI is an initiative to breathe new life into the city of Atami by exhibiting artworks of young and emerging artists; the ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 Jury, including Startbahn’s Founder and CEO Taihei Shii selected 30 groups of artists from the public whose artworks will bring color and culture into the city. The 30 works created by the selected artists and 20 works by artists participating in the ACAO ART RESIDENCE will be exhibited in Atami's streets and historical hotel and ryokan establishments. Startbahn is supporting ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 by providing the FUN FAN NFT web app for the NFT scavenger hunt, a new initiative for this year’s event.

■ About the NFT Scavenger Hunt

The artworks available at the NFT scavenger hunt are collaborative works by Japanese artists Yuma Kishi and Shu Yonezawa. The ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 exhibition site and 20 other locations each have their own NFT artworks that visitors can collect by simply scanning the QR code presented at the venue. This is a whole new experience for visitors to both collect NFTs as well enjoy the exhibition and art festival.

Yuma Kishiis an acclaimed Japanese contemporary artist using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create data-driven digital works and sculptures. Exhibited widely in Japan, his works have been featured by major brands such as Nike and publications such as Vogue. Borrowing motifs and symbols from the canons of both Western and Asian art history, his paintings distort our perceptions of the history of aesthetics. Using AI technology, his works evoke a sense of momentary dislocation in the viewer’s awareness of the self, creating a liminal space in between the here and now.

Shu Yonezawais an artist and anime illustrator based in Tokyo. Born in 1999, she is interested in the physicality of characters in today's digital animation and the liminal atmospheric space in which the animation lives.
