Startbahn, Inc. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Taihei Shii; hereinafter “Startbahn”) is pleased to announce its role in selecting and managing artists for Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.’s (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa; hereinafter “Nissan”) art event titled “THE DRIVE-THRU MUSEUM.”
This event, held in cooperation with the City of Yokohama, offers a new type of art experience: viewing large-scale public artworks installed throughout the city from inside a car. During the exhibition period, both test-drive participants and general visitors can enjoy the city’s public art and experience the cultural richness of Yokohama.

■ Event Overview
“THE DRIVE-THRU MUSEUM” is a new type of art experience born from a collaboration between the Nissan X-Trail—a premium vehicle recognized for its outstanding design, including a 2023 Good Design Award—and the City of Yokohama, known as a hub for public art and cultural landmarks.
The event invited visitors to enjoy multiple artworks installed throughout the streets of Yokohama not only by walking, but also from inside a car, offering an innovative and accessible way to engage with art in urban public spaces.
Three artists participated in this collaboration: Amanda Parer, Wade and Leta, and Saki Matsumura. Their works were exhibited across Yokohama in alignment with the event’s core concept of in-car art appreciation.

Hours: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM

■ Background of the Initiative
Since 2004, the City of Yokohama has promoted the “Creative City Yokohama” initiative, using arts and culture to drive urban development. Known as an “Art City” with institutions like the Yokohama Museum of Art and the Yokohama Triennale, the city aims to transform itself into a “museum without walls.”
The concept behind “THE DRIVE-THRU MUSEUM” is to reimagine the entire city as an open-air art museum. Visitors—regardless of whether they participate in test drives—can enjoy public art installations and connect with the unique charm of Yokohama.
Startbahn was selected for this role based on its proven experience managing artists and curating art events in public spaces.
