From November 18th to 20th, 2022, Startbahn will present Mariko Mori’s ”NFT/Eternal Mass” at the Art Collaboration Kyoto (ACK) VIP Lounge. Following ACK’s 2022 curatorial theme “Flowers of Time”, Mori’s ”NFT/Eternal Mass”(2022) is a celebration of unity, fluidity, and relationship formation in the post-Covid age. It is also the artist’s first NFT. The Startbahn booth at ACK’s VIP Lounge marks the first time “NFT/Eternal Mass” will be available with an exclusive VIP allowlist for future minting.

From November 18th to 20th, Startbahn will hold private viewing tours inside ACK’s VIP Lounge at Kyoto International Conference Center (Kyoto International Conference Center Event Hall) presenting Mariko Mori’s first NFT entitled “NFT/Eternal Mass”. These viewing tours are also accessible to the general public with advance registration.“NFT/Eternal Mass” marks the first time the acclaimed Japanese artist creates an NFT artwork, available for private, and subsequently, public sale. “NFT/Eternal Mass” is the culmination of years of research and development from Mori, an artist famous for her large-scale sculptures and installations bringing together concepts from ancient wisdom and materials derived from latest technology. With the ability to morph and transform over time, Mori’s “NFT/Eternal Mass” embeds the crowd-sourced nature of blockchain technology into the Japanese concept of Kojiki creation myth, originating in the eighth century in Japan.

“NFT/Eternal Mass” will be available for sale only at ACK’s VIP Lounge for the duration of the fair, in limited allowlist supply. ACK 2022 brings together over 50 international and Japanese galleries to exhibit at Kyoto International Conference Center Event Hall, and other venues throughout Kyoto City, with special exhibitions and satellite programs conceived by newly appointed ACK Program Director Yukako Yamashita.

■ About Mariko Mori’s ”NFT/Eternal Mass” (2022)
\
Originally conceived in 2014, Mariko Mori's vision for "NFT/Eternal Mass" is now only made possible through the use of NFTs and blockchain technology. 
\
The shapes for Mori’s “NFT/Eternal Mass” were originally inspired by the quantum physics theory of a particle and its antiparticle: the theory that there is an associated antiparticle with the same mass but opposite charge for every particle. Based on the Calabi-Yau manifold, the forms of “NFT/Eternal Mass” are based on visualizations of the six unseen spatial dimensions of the Superstring theory.
\
“NFT/Eternal Mass” falls within the artist’s recent work surrounding the Japanese creation myth in Kojiki, a chronicle of myths originally recorded in the eighth century Japan. In the myth, the first five generations of terrestrial deities came to light as a pair. For “NFT/Eternal Mass”, Mori focused on the idea of pairing and coupling, drawing from the first-ever recorded creation myth in Japan to explore the meaning behind the appearance of opposite genders in ancient mythology.

Mariko Mori comments, “Most life is delivered by coupling in this world. It is a sacred, pure, and transcendent phenomenon of bonding with another. It is the only way and a key for any life to expand generations. By witnessing the coupling of Eternal Mass, I hope to remind us of the essential meaning of life – giving love.”

“NFT/Eternal Mass” can be thus understood as a natural continuation of Mori’s artistic practice, and a reaction to our post-pandemic reality, with social distancing measures still in place in various parts of the world. Central to this NFT project is the idea that the soul never dies, similar to the immutability nature of NFTs on the blockchain.

■ About Mariko Mori
\
Mori has attracted international attention since the mid-1990s, participating in international exhibitions around the world and holding numerous solo exhibitions in the museums. Major solo exhibitions include “Pure Land” (Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Japan, 2002), “Wave UFO” (Public Art Fund, New York, US, 2003 / Bregenz Art Museum, Bergen’s, Austria, 2004), “Oneness” (CCBB Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 2011) and “Rebirth” (Royal Academy London, London, UK, 2012). The exhibition “Oneness” recorded 500,000 visitors, making it the most visited exhibition in the world that year.
Major group exhibitions include the “Sao Paulo Biennale” (2002) and the “51st Venice Biennale Arsenale” (2005). In recent years, Mori has been involved in outdoor installation projects, including 'Sun Pillar' on Miyakojima Island in 2010 and 'Ring: One with Nature' in Brazil, as one of the official cultural programmes of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016. Her works are also in the collections of many institutions, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum, the Centre Pompidou and the Fukutake Foundation. Major awards include the Award of Excellence at the 47th Venice Biennale in 1997 and the 8th Japan Contemporary Art Encouragement Award in 2001; in 2014 she was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the University of the Arts London.

Art Collaboration Kyoto (ACK) is an art fair held in Kyoto under the theme of “contemporary art and collaboration.” It is one of the largest art fairs in Japan specializing in contemporary art, and is unique in the collaborations it forges between Japanese and international galleries, government and private sectors, and the fine arts and other fields.
\
The main venue, Kyoto International Conference Center, will consist of two sections, “Gallery Collaborations” and “Kyoto Meetings,” where works will be exhibited and sold.
\
In addition, satellite exhibitions and talk programs planned by newly appointed Program Director Yukako Yamashita will be held, and a number of collaborative programs are scheduled to coincide with the holding of ACK in Kyoto City.

Startbahn To Present Mariko Mori’s First NFT “NFT/Eternal Mass” at Art Collaboration Kyoto 2022

__Startbahn has partnered with ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 to launch an NFT-based scavenger hunt with FUN FAN NFT from November 3rd to November 27th in Atami, Japan. FUN FAN NFT is a user-friendly web app, which does not require crypto wallets, that enables visitors to scan QR codes and collect NFTs straight to their phones as they visit ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 exhibitions. The NFTs, issued on Startrail, feature a limited number of artworks by artists Yuma Kishi and Shu Yonezawa, and can be collected at 20 locations throughout Atami. Additionally Taihei Shii, CEO of Startbahn, served as a judge for ATAMI ART GRANT 2022.__

From November 3rd to November 27th, art festival ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 by PROJECT ATAMI Executive Committee will be held at the ACAO area, station area and Ginza-machi area of Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture. PROJECT ATAMI is an initiative to breathe new life into the city of Atami by exhibiting artworks of young and emerging artists; the ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 Jury, including Startbahn’s Founder and CEO Taihei Shii  selected 30 groups of artists from the public whose artworks will bring color and culture into the city. The 30 works created by the selected artists and 20 works by artists participating in the ACAO ART RESIDENCE will be exhibited in Atami's streets and historical hotel and ryokan establishments. Startbahn is supporting ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 by providing the FUN FAN NFT web app for the NFT scavenger hunt, a new initiative for this year’s event.

__■ About the NFT Scavenger Hunt__

The artworks available at the NFT scavenger hunt are collaborative works by Japanese artists Yuma Kishi and Shu Yonezawa. The ATAMI ART GRANT 2022 exhibition site and 20 other locations each have their own NFT artworks that visitors can collect by simply scanning the QR code presented at the venue. This is a whole new experience for visitors to both collect NFTs as well enjoy the exhibition and art festival.

__Yuma Kishi__ is an acclaimed Japanese contemporary artist using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create data-driven digital works and sculptures. Exhibited widely in Japan, his works have been featured by major brands such as Nike and publications such as Vogue. Borrowing motifs and symbols from the canons of both Western and Asian art history, his paintings distort our perceptions of the history of aesthetics. Using AI technology, his works evoke a sense of momentary dislocation in the viewer’s awareness of the self, creating a liminal space in between the here and now.

__Shu Yonezawa__ is an artist and anime illustrator based in Tokyo. Born in 1999, she is interested in the physicality of characters in today's digital animation and the liminal atmospheric space in which the animation lives.

NFT Scavenger Hunt, Powered by Startbahn’s FUN FAN NFT, Activates ATAMI ART GRANT 2022

__Startbahn, Inc. (Head office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Taihei Shii; hereinafter "Startbahn") is pleased to announce the opening of Wetland Lab from October 29 to December 11, 2022, at SRR Project Space, Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. Wetland is a project led by waiwai research and design agency, the research arm of waiwai, an award-winning architectural practice with offices in Dubai and Tokyo. The research project proposes an environmentally friendly salt-based cement alternative inspired by sabkhas—crystalline salt formations found in wetlands in the United Arab Emirates. This will be Wetland’s first presentation in Japan, a year after it premiered at the National Pavilion of the UAE for the 17th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale.__

Startbahn is pleased to present a new exhibition at its SRR Project Space in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, opening on October 29, 2022. Entitled *Wetland Lab*, the exhibition will showcase research into ecosystems and materials carried out by waiwai research and design agency, the research arm of waiwai, an award-winning multidisciplinary architecture, landscape, graphic, and urban design studio with offices in Dubai and Tokyo.
\
This research project began at the Pavilion of the United Arab Emirates at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2021, with the exhibition *Wetland*. The pavilion was awarded the Golden Lion for Best National Participation, the Biennale’s highest honour. The exhibition at SRR Project Space marks the first time the research is being exhibited in Japan.
\
The *Wetland* exhibition in Venice presented a prototype of a salt-based cement material, made from recycled industrial waste brine, which has the potential to reduce the construction industry’s impact on the environment. This new material was devised as a potential alternative to commonly used Portland cement, which is responsible for 8% of global CO2 emissions. It uses salt as a binding agent and relies on a crystallization process inspired by the *sabkhas* (salt formations) naturally found in the UAE.
\
The exhibition in Shimokitazawa is an opportunity to celebrate leading architects and researchers from the UAE and Japan, in line with SRR Project Space’s mission to promote the role of art, creativity, and technology in sustainable urban development. A central theme of the exhibition is the ways in which technology can be used for the development of new construction materials that are uniquely suited to local ecosystems and environments. The work of waiwai research and design agency on view in the exhibition furthers SRR Project Space’s mission to connect the local community of Shimokitazawa with the latest research projects in contemporary art and design from around the world.

The role and definition of the architect must change, to imagine and work towards new futures that support and nurture our ecosystems. Modern materials are responsible for almost 40% of the climate crisis, and the production of space has left our cities looking identical to one another, with no reflection of context. __【 About *Wetland* 】__
\
Curated by Wael Al Awar and Kenichi Teramoto, *Wetland* is a research project first presented at the National Pavilion of the UAE at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2021. The pavilion was awarded the Golden Lion for the Best National Participation. Inspired by the salt and mineral ecosystem found in the United Arab Emirates’ *sabkhas* (salt flats), *Wetland* presents research into an environmentally friendly cement alternative derived from salt brine produced by seawater desalination plants in the UAE. Commissioned by the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and supported by the UAE Ministry of Youth and Culture, Wetland is a product of a collaborative effort between the co-curators and researchers at Amber Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi, the Obuchi Lab and Sato Lab at the University of Tokyo, and the Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences at American University of Sharjah. The exhibition also included photographs taken by New York–based Emirati artist Farah Al Qasimi, and it was accompanied by a publication dedicated to the study of sabkhas and their importance in global ecology and architecture, entitled *The Anatomy of Sabkhas*, written by Rashid and Ahmed Bin Shabib, co-edited by Wael Al Awar and Kenichi Teramoto, and with a contribution by Marina Tabassum.

__【 About Wael Al Awar and Kazuma Yamao 】__

__Wael Al Awar__ founded waiwai (formerly ibda design) after returning to the Middle East from Tokyo. Wael layers his interests in natural phenomena into an architecture of light, time, structure, and landscape. He seeks to create an architecture that is more than fabrication, that remains open to adaptation. His site-specific designs encourage unexpected experiences. Wael curated the UAE National Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2021, which was awarded the Golden Lion.

__Kazuma Yamao__ is a Tokyo-based architect who founded waiwai (formerly Gingrich). Following work with Coelacanth and Associates, an office known for designs of educational buildings in Japan, he established his own practice in 2013 and strengthened his connections across Asia and the Middle East. He founded waiwai in 2018 and solidified the office’s deeply rooted position in Dubai and Tokyo. The transcultural perspective he brings to the office’s work facilitates communication through the process of architecture itself.

スタートバーンは、ブロックチェーンひいてはNFTを活用して、アート作品の真正性・信頼性担保と価値継承を支えるインフラ「Startrail」を構築しています。アートビートは、メディア「Tokyo Art Beat」を通してアートファンやアートにこれから興味を持つ人など、世界各地の人々がアートの魅力に触れるきっかけ作りを行っています。2020年、スタートバーンはアートビートを同社グループに迎え、アート業界の活性化を目的としたエコシステムの構築を共に推進しています。

現在、NFTおよびNFT付きデジタル作品は、通常オンラインマーケットプレイスから入手します。そして、ウォレットや仮想通貨の準備など、利用者側の準備コストがかかっておりました。この様な現状はNFTがアート業界の活性化を十分に果たしているとはいえず、「オンラインだけでなく、オフラインでのクリエイティブとの出会いもサポートできないか？」、「その上でNFTがもっと簡単に取得できないか？」という問いからWebアプリ「FUN FAN NFT」はスタートしました。クリエイティブな世界をより楽しめるインフラの一角としてこのサービスを提供し、さまざまなアーティストやイベント、店舗や施設などと生活者の出会いをサポートします。

デジタル作品が準備できたら、Webアプリ「FUN FAN NFT」からスマホひとつで簡単にNFTを作成できます。ブラウザ上で使用できるWebアプリなのでダウンロードは不要です。また、ブロックチェーンに関する知識や仮想通貨も必要ありません。NFTの希少性を左右するエディション数は、一点から数万点まで目的に応じて幅広く設定できます。スタートバーンが持つUI/UXデザインの蓄積とPolygonの活用により実現しました。NFTの受け取り用QRコードを印刷して現場に設置します。QRコード決済サービスのように、来場者がスマホでQRコードを読み取ることでNFTを獲得することできます。さらに今後は売買機能も追加予定です。

「FUN FAN NFT」には、アートのためのブロックチェーンインフラ「Startrail」が導入されています。作品を登録しNFTを提供した事業者の情報はもちろん、その後の展示や取引、修復や鑑定など、作品の価値に関わるさまざまな情報やデータを記録できます。NFTを作成する事業者に対して事前にKYC（顧客確認手続き）を行い、事業者名とイーサリアムブロックチェーン上のコントラクトアドレスを公開します。ブロックチェーンの性質上、データの削除・改ざん・複製はできません。サービス横断の長期的な二次流通管理を見据えた仕組みにより、事業者も来場者も安心してNFTの魅力を楽しむことができます。

世界遺産である高野山の周遊観光を促す謎解きイベント「ナゾトキ文化財めぐり『天空の秘境と夢幻手稿（むげんしゅこう）』」は、購入したキットを手に奥之院や壇上伽藍をはじめとする高野山の文化財をめぐりながら、各所に仕掛けられた様々な謎を解き明かし、高野山の多様な魅力を楽しめる大人のための体験型プログラムです。

謎解きの過程で訪れる複数のチェックポイントにQRコードが設置されており、イベント参加者はスマートフォンで「NFT文化財カード」を受け取ることができます。鑑賞した文化財を思い出として持ち帰るだけでなく、さらに深く知るきっかけをつくります。

(Head office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Hoshino; hereinafter "Odakyu") and the Shimokitazawa Merchants Association, will hold the first Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa art festival under the theme of the Moon, from Saturday, September 10th to Sunday, September 25th, 2022 in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. We are pleased to announce the unveiling of multiple installations from international and Japanese artists, including Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon and Amanda Parer’s Intrude public art sculptures. The festival also includes an NFT stamp rally of digital artworks and an array of limited menus served by local stores and facilities.__

Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa will feature several installations, including ones by international artists who will exhibit in Japan for the first time. A total of 56 local stores and facilities will participate in the festival, offering originally-designed stamp rallies and limited menu items created in collaboration with "Metaani," a popular 3D Japanese avatar. The festival is made to enhance Shimokitazawa’s as a hub of creativity and community engagement, through co-creation and collaborations between artists and local businesses. Visitors will be able to rediscover the charm of Shimokitazawa’s area by touring the neighborhood through exhibitions and giant public art installations, and participate in a special stamp rally of digital artworks and NFTs that can only be obtained on-site at the festival.

Artworks under the theme of the Moon will decorate the streets of Shimokitazawa. Museum of the Moon, a 7-meter-diameter installation by British artist Luke Jerram, based on NASA's moon photo, and Australian artist Amanda Parer’s Intrude (2014), an installation featuring large-scale rabbits, will appear throughout Shimokita Line Road Street, which features a large outdoor space. Parer’s Intrude installation will be displayed in the precincts of Kitazawa Hachiman-jinja Shrine, creating a fantastic projection for appreciating the works. Both works will appear before dusk and at night, and the works themselves will be lit up at night, so audiences can enjoy different atmospheres at different times of the day.

Shimokitazawa Arts, an art gallery known for exhibiting artworks in line with Shimokitazawa’s natural style, will exhibit paintings by artist and  illustrator Yoshiko Hada. At “BONUS TRACK,” a shopping district with an abundance of outdoor space and unique stores, a video work under the theme of "Otsukimi", translated as “moon-viewing”, created by Kazuki Takakura will be projected outdoors. Visitors are invited to enjoy “BONUS TRACK”’s stores’ specialties while appreciating the artist’s work projected on the wall.
\
In Startbahn’s SRR Project Space, we are pleased to announce two concurrent exhibitions under the theme of the Moon. In SRR Project Space’s main gallery, we are presenting perfect circle (2016), a sound and multimedia installation by Yoichi Kamimura, which was previously exhibited at Aomori Contemporary Art Centre. Kamimura recorded sea sounds during full moon and new moon wave tides at various locations throughout the world, and through his immersive sound and photography installation, visitors will be able to feel closer to the calming forces of nature under the moonlight. At SRR Project Space’s window gallery, we are presenting Counting Sheep, a video projection work by artist, illustrator, performer, and author Masanao Hirayama. His simplistic yet suggestive lines will sing in dialogue with the moonlight, providing a moment of contemplation for visitors. The window projection will only be opened on sunset evenings of sunny days.

In addition, the first SRR Artist Talk, part of our SRR Project Space’s public programs, will be held at Shimokita College with artist Amanda Parer.

As a new autumn tradition created together with the local community, Moon Art Night Shimokitazawa will actively involve the thriving Shimokitazawa’s stores, businesses, and facilities at a total of 56 locations, offering an NFT stamp rally of digital works and collaborative limited menus based on the festival’s theme. 
\
The NFT stamp rally is a project to collect digital artworks at a total of 48 facilities and stores that represent Shimokitazawa’s culture and history, including “Honda Theatre” and “The Suzunari,” which have led the theater culture in the area, and “mona records,” a live music house known for representing independent music. By scanning QR codes posted at the stores and facilities, visitors will be led to the "FUN FAN NFT" web application, newly released by Startbahn and Art Beat. They will be able to acquire digital works with their attached NFTs for free. The digital artworks will vary but retain an original design that uses "Metaani," a popular Japanese 3D avatar, popular both in Japan and abroad, crossing and interacting with each participating store’s logo. The first 300 visitors who meet the requirements, including those who acquire five or more artworks through the Shimokitazawa neighborhood walk, will receive a limited-edition NFT videos by “Metaani.”

Other stores and facilities in the area will also present moon-themed products and projects, which will result in a variety of goods and performances, such as gourmet food, stationery, theater plays, and movies. For example, the manufacturing space "Shimokita FAB Co-saku Room" will hold a workshop to create original moon-shaped accessories by combining glass and ceramic pieces. In addition, Shimokitazawa Hospital, a center that supports foot health in the community, will hold a photo contest showcasing body parts with "月（moon)" in the kanji Chinese character (e.g., 膝（knee）, 大腿（thigh）, etc.), and winners will receive products. The collected photos will be used to create a mosaic artwork to be displayed at the main entrance of the hospital. The mosaic artwork will be displayed after September 22nd.

__■ Overview and background of the rebranding__
Startbahn operates Startrail, a sustainable and scalable blockchain infrastructure that assures the reliability, authenticity, and traceability of works in the art and creative industries. In addition, we also provide “Startbahn Cert.”, a suite of products that are built upon Startrail.
\
Due to the globalization of art distribution, the increase in online sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the increase in the number of young collectors attracted to new technology such as NFTs, many art entities have been using Startbahn Cert. to ensure the value of artworks and their long-term archival records.
\
Under this rebranding effort, the “Startbahn Cert.” name, design, and brand will be further streamlined under the Startrail brand as Startrail PORT. As the name implies, the “PORT” in Startrail PORT highlights our vision for this product to play a vital role in facilitating and meeting the dynamic needs in blockchain infrastructure in the space.

__■ Changes due to the rebranding__
Up till now, “Cert.” has been the name of our digital certificate of authenticity with its information stored in the NFT "Startrail Registry Record (SRR)", issued on Startrail.. With this rebranding, the name SRR will replace "Cert." in order to simplify and reinforce the brand of Startail-issued NFTs.

In line with this change, the NFC tag – which is designed to prevent any discrepancy between the distribution of a physical work, such as a painting or sculpture, and its information recorded in its NFT on Startrail – will be redesigned with the new "Startrail PORT" logo. Since there will be no change in the functionality itself, the previous designed tags that have already been purchased and issued can still be used as before.

Beginning August 17, 2022, we’ll be updating the name and design across our products and services, and expect to complete the roll out.

Since the release of the original whitepaper in 2019, Startrail has grown to support the art and creative industries by providing sustainable and reliable blockchain infrastructure. The updated whitepaper expands upon the current Startrail design and dives deeper into our technical approach.__

On the occasion of NFT.NYC, Infinite Objects, NowHere Gallery, and Startbahn are pleased to present an exhibition and satellite event highlighting women artists working with NFTs from around the world. Taihei Shii is the Founder and CEO of Startbahn. After growing up in the US, Shii returned to Japan and graduated from the Department of Oil Painting at Tama Art University. His artistic practice centered on Art in the Internet Age and his works were exhibited at various galleries and museums in Japan, including the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art and Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo. While pursuing his postgraduate degree from the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at the University of Tokyo, he started to conceptualize Startbahn in 2006 and earned patents for his applications of blockchain technology in Japan and the US. __Startbahn, Inc. has launched an NFT Project with CyberAgent, Inc. to produce a digital twin of supermodel Ai Tominaga, the first official 3DCG model for the Digital Twin Label. The model is wearing TOMO KOIZUMI, the world-renowned fashion brand known for their iconic kaleidoscopic palettes and extravagant designs. The NFT project concept theme is Light of Life, and the work will be sold globally as an NFT artwork. It will be available for purchase on OpenSea around the summer of 2022.__

There has been a boom in NFT art over the past year, and the digital space is rapidly expanding to become a new venue for artists to explore their creativity. In the fashion industry, sales in the metaverse are expected to be one potential solution to counter mass production, consumption, and disposal.

Startbahn has worked on cutting-edge fashion exhibition projects supported by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan, in conjunction with many top artists and designers. In this new work, Startbahn is delighted to be working with renowned fashion designer Tomo Koizumi, whose eponymous label "TOMO KOIZUMI" is known for colorful, voluminous silhouettes. Along with Ai Tominaga, global celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Joan Smalls and Gwendoline Christie have walked for Koizumi, and he has dressed the likes of Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus, to name a few.

CyberAgent launched "Digital Twin Label," a service for casting celebrity digital twins, in August 2021. Since then, CyberAgent has created and managed official 3DCG models that serve as alternative digital selves for celebrities, supporting the promotion of celebrity activities in the metaverse. Together with CyberAgent, Startbahn is working on expanding the opportunities for digital twins in the digital space - touching upon all aspects of creative innovation across art, advertising, and entertainment.

Startbahn has launched this NFT project to explore new business opportunities that seek to push forward the digital transformation of the fashion industry in new and exciting ways. In the traditional apparel manufacturing process, scrap materials and other waste are generated when samples are created. In response to the apparel industry's sustainability challenges, a new digital production process — one in which the garments are digitally designed, presented, and manufactured with sales forecasts based on customer response — will enable more efficient distribution and decreased waste. In addition, the digital production process is expected to diversify sales and expand business opportunities, for example, by developing derivative works such as NFT art.

Rendered and reborn as a digital twin, Digital Twin Label has faithfully recreated supermodel Ai Tominaga for this NFT. A rhythmic luminescence emanates from the digital twin Ai Tominaga, breathing a whole new life to this digital being. Together with the floral in nature and playful TOMO KOIZUMI piece, Ai Tominaga’s digital twin captures this “light of life” expression, suspended and radiating in perpetuity.

This NFT artwork will be released and available for purchase on OpenSea in Summer 2022.

__■ Technology Overview__

Ai Tominaga's digital twin was created by a sophisticated scanning system owned by CyberAgent's Digital Twin Label. CyberHuman Productions, a CyberAgent subsidiary company that specializes in photogrammetry technology and 3DCG production, supervised the 3DCG model along with professional hairstylists and makeup artists. Meanwhile, the digital outfit was created in collaboration with Tomo Koizumi and Startbahn, with the material texture of the fabric simulated and expressed in great detail in 3DCG. A dynamic backdrop of endless space, drifting particles, and reflected luminescence completes the overall art piece.

CyberAgent is also engaged in creating a safe and healthy market in the digital space; leading research initiatives in deepfake detection with its AI Lab. TOMO KOIZUMI is one of Japan's leading young designers and has been called a “breakout star” by The Business of Fashion. He has been selected as one of the 500 most powerful figures of the fashion industry by BoF500. Born in Japan in 1988, Koizumi studied arts at the National Chiba University, during which time he launched his namesake brand, and graduated in 2012. While working as a costume designer, Lady Gaga wore one of his designs on a visit to Tokyo in 2016. He debuted TOMO KOIZUMI at the Autumn/Winter 2019 shows in New York, attracting international recognition and acclaim. In 2020, he was one of the winners of the LVMH Prize. Koizumi showcased his Autumn/Winter 2019 collection during New York Fashion Week, orchestrated by Katie Grand, Love magazine Editor-in-Chief. Since then, Koizumi’s work has featured in international editions of Vogue, Love, V and WWD. He has also dressed Miley Cyrus and was commissioned by the actress and singer Miriam Yeung for her world tour. In 2019, Thailand-based fashion editor and entrepreneur Nichapat Sop Hap wore one of Koizumi's designs to the Met Gala and singer-songwriter Misia wore one of his dresses to perform at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 opening ceremony.

On Saturday, May 28, 2022, Startbahn will open the art space "SRR Project Space" at NANSEI PLUS, the final development area in front of the Southwest exit of Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line, one of Tokyo’s main train lines. Located on the "Shimokitazawa Line Road Street", the new urban development is promoted by Odakyu Electric Railway, one of Japan’s largest railway companies. “SRR" is an abbreviation of Startbahn’s NFT "Startrail Registry Record" and "Shimokitazawa Rail Road".
\
As an exhibition space, SRR Project Space will provide opportunities for artists, curators, and other emerging creators to exhibit their latest works, as well as promote community connections and vitality in line with the supportive development promoted by Odakyu Electric Railway. It will be developed as a place of exploration, learning, and development that further promotes the role of art, creativity, and technology in sustainable urban development. It will also act as a bridge between Shimo-Kitazawa thriving culture and the international art scene, connecting society with new trends such as the NFT and involving artists from outside Japan.

The first project is a two-part solo exhibition by Japanese contemporary artist Yuichiro Tamura entitled "Animal Spirits" and "Rebirth of the Qool," with new installations reflecting on Shimo-Kitazawa area.

Startbahn was originally an art project that I created in 2006 to "build an infrastructure for art in the Internet age." From then on, it is my mission as an artist, to support the ecosystem by providing the necessary technology for all kinds of art and creativity is behind this project. Starting from a coffee shop that once existed in Shimo-Kitazawa, the project will incorporate elements reminiscent of the Odakyu Line that once ran above ground, passing through people, technology, and civilization. __■ About Yuichiro Tamura__

Born 1977 in Toyama. Lives and works in Kyoto. Holds BFA from Department of Photography, College of Art, Nihon University, and Ph.D. from Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts. Tamura’s work unfolds from existing images and objects and reflects an interdisciplinary approach to various media including photography, video, installation, performance and theater. He creates multilayered narratives, containing a mixture of fact and fiction, based on a wide range of sources from indigenous historical themes to well-known popular subjects. His recent works and exhibitions have included: theater work Tasteless (Kyoto Art Theater, 2021), solo shows Milky Mountain (Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, New Zealand, 2019) and Hell Scream (Kyoto City University of Arts Art Gallery @KCUA, Kyoto, 2018), and the group shows Double Vison (Tai Kwun, Hong Kong, 2022), Voiceover (Shiga Museum of Art, 2021), Readings From Below (Times Art Center Berlin, 2020), Image Narratives: Literature in Japanese Contemporary Art (The National Art Center, Tokyo, 2019), Roppongi Crossing 2019: Connexions (Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, 2019), Nissan Art Award 2017 (BankART Studio NYK, Yokohama, 2017), 2 or 3 Tigers (Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, 2017), BODY/PLAY/POLITICS (Yokohama Museum of Art, 2016), and international exhibitions Aichi Triennale 2022, Yokohama Triennale 2020, 2019 Asian Art Biennial (Taiwan), Busan Biennale ( Korea, 2018), and SeMA Biennale Media City Seoul 2014 (Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, 2014).
